The New Driver
A young man sat in the office. “Park, you are the driver of our team now. I hope we will do well together,” I said.
Park went out of the room.
“Will he be a good driver?” asked Pirlo, our technical director.
“I think so. He is a smart, positive, and nice guy,” I said.
“Maybe you are right. He lacks skills and experience, but he is only 18. His intelligence and enthusiasm will carry him forward.”
Looking at the young driver standing by the side of the track, I remembered the last driver of our team. He retired at the age of 20. The team didn’t develop a good training plan for him, and the training funds were not enough either. I hope we can do better this time. We should spend money on extra training and hire a good coach.
We will enter as many races as possible, so sponsors may notice the young guy.
There are some individual races that don’t require a rating to enter. Park can start with these, then try to join series once he has enough rating.
